Frequently asked questions

1. How do I know if I am eligible?
To be eligible for this program:

  • Patients must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents and reside in the U.S.

  • Patients must have a confirmed cancer diagnosis.

  • Must be in active treatment, scheduled to begin treatment or follow up care all confirmed by the patient’s oncologist health care team.

  • Must have not received a Patient Aid Program grant in the past.

2. Can a health care professional and/or someone else apply to the Patient Aid Program for me?
Yes. A health care professional such as your doctor, nurse, etc., can apply for the program on your behalf via the online application.

3. Why are you asking for my Social Security Number or Alien ID Number?
We are using this information to verify identity. It is required and never shared.

4. Will I be notified if additional information is needed?
Yes. The patient will receive a letter informing him/her that additional documentation is required. If requested documentation is not uploaded to verify residency and Social Security Number through the online application, you will be asked for additional documentation.

5. Can documents be signed electronically?
Yes. Applicants can sign the application electronically.

6. How can I check the status of my application?
The best way to check the status is to call (919) 424-1497. Leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible to provide an update.

7. My application is approved, what happens next?
You will receive a letter in the mail with a check within 7-10 business days.

8. What if I have not received my check?
Please call (919) 424-1497 or email lwright@fight4cure.org.

9. Can I apply again to the Patient Aid Program next year?
No. This is a one-time $100 grant to help offset expenses.

10. Do I claim this grant on my taxes?
As a charity, Fight 4 Cure Inc is exempt from federal income tax and individuals who receive assistance from a charity to meet their personal needs do not generally have to pay federal income tax on value of the aid received.
